Campbell B. Lanier, III
October 1950 – May 2024

Honoring Campbell B. Lanier, III:

ITC Holding Company, LLC honors the legacy of its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Campbell B. Lanier, III. On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 73, “Cam” passed away peacefully at his Sehoy home in Hurtsboro, Alabama.

Cam’s investment activities spanned more than 30 years and focused on early-stage investments in communications, technology, financial services, restaurant management solutions, and canine detection services. Those that had the honor of being in business with him were immensely blessed as a result.

Cam served as a director of ITC since the company’s inception in 1989 as a corporation, and he also served as Senior Director of Kinetic Ventures, a leading venture capital investor in high growth information, communications, and power/clean technology companies.  He was a General Partner for ITC Partners Fund I, LP, an early-stage investor in high growth technology and services companies; Chairman and CEO of Magnolia Holding Company, an investor in online restaurant equipment, supply and service companies; and former Chairman or Director of numerous portfolio companies.  Earlier in his career, he co-founded Interstate Communications (Telecom*USA), which was acquired by MCI for $1.2 billion in 1990.  Mr. Lanier was the founding investor and Chairman of Powertel (now T-Mobile), which was acquired by Deutsche Telecom for $4.2 billion in 2000. He was also the founding investor for Mindspring, which was valued at $1 billion at the time of its merger with Earthlink, as well as the founding investor of ITC DeltaCom, InterCall, Knology and Firethorn.  He previously served as Managing Director of South Atlantic Private Equity Fund, IV, Limited Partnership.

Cam’s commitment to ITC’s corporate value system set the benchmark for all team members, putting its customers and shareholders first, simply treating people according to the Golden Rule.

Whether you knew him as “Dada,” “Bubba,” or friend, all who knew him loved him. Cam’s reach touched countless lives, all of whom were inspired by his strong faith, ethical business practices, and that value system that was the foundation of his success. His legacy will have a lasting impact for generations to come throughout his vast community of friends.

ITC and its leadership are honored to continue business in the way Cam led and is thankful for the continued support and trust of its team members, investors, and customers. May we step boldly into this new era of business together.
